FDW-Worldwide Debuts Nevaton Microphones at 2008 Winter NAMM

January 2008 - ANAHEIM, CA – FDW-Worldwide is excited to announce the addition of Nevaton condenser microphones to their product offerings. Nevaton has long been the leading supplier of professional microphones for recording, radio, TV, and film studios in Russia. The Nevaton line includes stereo microphones, small, medium, and large diaphragm condenser microphones, as well as boundary, shotgun, and miniature microphone products.

Nevaton's St. Petersburg manufacturing facility is a well-equipped acoustic laboratory that includes one of Europe's largest anechoic chambers. Microphone components including brass housings, capsules, and even XLR connectors are all made at this location. Each microphone is hand assembled and individually tuned and measured before being delivered to customers. Because of this, only 15 units on average leave the factory each month.

Highlights of the Nevaton product line include the MC51, summarized by Sound on Sound magazine as "a versatile and nice-sounding capacitor mic that stands comparison with top European models." The MC51 consists of an electroacoustical transformer and preamplifier, which can transmit high sound pressure levels without distortion and has very low self-noise. It has four directional pattern settings and two 24mm diaphragms made of ultra-thin, gold-sputtered Polyethylene-Tereftalate film. To guarantee stability, all components of the transducer pass a special artificial aging process. The MC416 is similar to the MC51, but has a larger capsule size (33mm). Both mics are well suited for television broadcasting, radio, and studio sound production.

Another star in the Nevaton lineup is the MC48, a large diaphragm stereo condenser microphone. This unit is equally proficient in radio and television broadcasting, but it truly excels when used for orchestra recordings, pop concerts, ambient field recordings, and for recording instruments such as guitar and drums. The MC48's twin 25mm diaphragms are placed one above the other, and can be simultaneously adjusted to allow a variable stereo width from 50° to 140°. It has an admirable low self-noise level and sound pressure handling capability that extends to 135dB. The entire internal construction of the MC48 is elastically mounted and the capsules are fixed on special dampers, giving it additional vibration and noise protection. All of these components come together to create a bright, luminous sound.

Nevaton's MC404 stereo condenser microphone produces brilliant, transparent sound with a 28mm dual diaphragm symmetrical transducer. Both diaphragms have their own dedicated amplifier channel, and the advanced multi-pattern functions add incredible versatility. The MC404's amplifier is built to Class 'A' transformerless standards and has an adjustable, low-cut filter to reduce proximity effects and low frequency interference. With its excellent low self-noise of less than 17dBa and sound pressure handling of up to 134dB, the MC404 is a first-rate choice for studio recording.

Since 1947, Nevaton has manufactured exceptional products for the live sound and recording industries. They will be the company to watch in coming years as they develop creative new ways to reproduce incredible sound quality.
